Management Of Environmental Degradation ? Definition causes and control?

 What is Environmental Degradation?

Environmental degradation is the abrasion of the earth or deterioration of the environment through the consumption of natural resources, for example, air, water, petroleum and soil; the destruction of environments and the eradication of wildlife. It is characterized as any  aggravation to nature’s turf seen to be detrimental.

Ecological effect or degradation is created by the consolidation of an effectively substantial and expanding human population, constantly expanding monetary development or per capita fortune and the application of natural resources exhausting and polluting technology.

Environmental degradation can occur when natural resources are depleted by eradication of species, increase in population rate and over use of assets for example water and air etc.

*Types of Environmental degradation*

1. Land and soil degradation

Soil fertility can be lost due to excessive application of fertilizer and poor drainage and landfilling.

2. Water degradation

Water is also natural resource and important for every living thing, its quality can be degraded due to excessive use and release in environment without treatment, dumping of waste in oceans can deteriorate water quality.

3. Atmospheric degradation

Atmosphere can be affected due to release of dangerous gases from industries and vehicles in air for example nitrous oxide, sulphur oxide and carbon monoxide.

*Causes of Environmental degradation*

Their are following causes of Environmental degradation these are given below,

1. Over-population

Rapid increase in population can leads to excessive usage of natural resources that can imbalance the food chain and ecosystem and  causes environmental degradation. Mortality rate can be decrease due to better medical facilities and birth rate is continuously increase.

2. Landfilling

Waste landfilling can destroy the lands and its can spreading even in urban areas and causes environmental damages by producing foul smell.

3. Pollution

Pollution can leads to different aspects, it can be in the form of water, air, land and soil  Degradation of all natural resources in inappropriate way can leads to health issues.

4. Deforestation

Deforestation means cutting of trees to convert forest area into urban areas.

*Control of Environmental degradation*

•By tree planting

•Reuse, recycle and reduce the natural resources

•Abate the uses of fertilizers

•Reduce fuel consumption

•Treating industrial effluent before disposal

• Safe use of resources

• creating awareness about this issue to deal with it.

•By conserving the endangered species.

•Reduce the use of dangerous gases.

•By reducing population growth.

*Conclusion*

Environment balance is important for ecosystem and species living in it, but it can be deteriorate due to rapid increase in population rate and that's leads to more usage of resources. By combating this problem it's important to reduce the excessive uses of assets and develop awareness among people's.
